GREAT SOUL IN MY COUNTRY 1 © 2007

I accept the sadness that life offers me,

Within it lies beauty,

How vast it is, that it elevates me.

In its bars, imprisoned,

The face of silence, my mirror,

Of odes on pages that release

The life of the compendium, in the voice of darkness.

These voices of mine,

Groan in a childish way,

Chosen at last,

In the capacity to be, genuine.

In this sadness that cloaks me,

I see the grandeur of existence,

For it is in pain that we weave

The soul capable of feeling.

Each tear, each verse,

Is a fragment of what I am,

In the dispersed universe,

Where silence found me.

And thus, I accept pain as a teacher,

That shapes and reveals me,

For it is in the shadow that one sees

The light that within me is cherished.
