GREAT SOUL IN MY COUNTRY 1 © 2007

Angolan, son of a white man!

Paint my blood to be blacker,

In a deep tone, where history is inscribed,

Where the soul rises, strong and unafraid.

The war is over, a sigh of relief,

Welcome Peace, in a collective embrace.

But still, I hear, in this land, a dark echo,

Racism! Not from you! It burns my pride.

You will see that I am also capable,

Of feeling from the depths of my heart,

A love that knows no colour,

The unity that arises from compassion.

The feeling pulses, alive and fervent,

In this book of life, each page is a seed.

The gaze turned to writing, memory of a people,

That blooms in hope, in a newer tomorrow.
