GREAT SOUL IN MY COUNTRY 2 © 2008

I am a memory of the past, a forgotten ship,

Once parting waves, in a sea never contained,

With the intention of being acclaimed, I sailed proudly,

Everyone marvelled, in the radiant, living gleam.

It was a necessary mode, I dreamed of being more,

Thinking I was an infinite ray, unshakable,

But with so much splendour, I became a meteorite,

Burned out in its own light, in a doomed fate.

Now, the remnants of the ship are buried,

Unknown, in frozen, silent seas,

Somewhere in a cold ocean, where life ebbs away,

The turbulent waves of the mind, in a battle that never falls.

They cannot undo, nor bring back the flame,

And to the light of life, the ship does not become a soul that cries,

It remains lost, an echo in time, forgotten,

Never to be people again, in a dream already faded.
